Lindsay:
My go-to approach for helping people in PTSD/trauma therapy is a combination of trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and somatic experiencing (SE). I find the best benefit in this approach because it addresses both the psychological and physical aspects of trauma, allowing clients to process traumatic memories while also helping them reconnect with their body’s natural ability to heal. TF-CBT helps clients challenge negative thought patterns and develop healthier coping strategies, while somatic experiencing focuses on releasing trauma stored in the body by gradually working through physical sensations and the nervous system’s response. This approach empowers clients to restore balance in both their emotional and physiological state, providing relief from trauma symptoms and fostering resilience.
