What is Christian counseling?

Christian counseling in Amherst is a form of faith-based counseling that utilizes psychological and spiritual techniques to guide and support. Often, Christian counselors often incorporate prayer and scripture-reading into treatment to help practicing Christians work through their challenges.

How does Christian counseling work?

Christian counseling works by focusing on themes of hope and healing through one’s faith. At Thriveworks, your Christian counselor will discuss Christian values and relate them to your unique struggles. You can expect to discuss the following with them:

  • Your Christian identity
  • Your relationship with God
  • What the bible says about your current challenges
  • How you can overcome your struggles in a way that aligns with your faith
  • How to channel your religion in a way that helps you heal

Is Christian counseling conducted in person or online?

Christian counseling at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and via Online therapy. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.

How long does Christian counseling last?

Christian counseling can last for a few weeks, months, or longer. It depends on what challenges the client might be working through, the severity of those challenges, as well as other needs or preferences.
