Your phone activity might reveal important personality traits. This, from researchers at RMIT University. The research team looked at phone call and messaging activity logs from college students, as well as accelerometer data, which tracks phone movement. They found that an individual’s interactions with their phone predicted specific personality traits. For example, people with consistent movements during the weekday evenings were more introverted, while those with random movements were more extroverted. The team observed other interesting patterns: conscientious people didn’t usually contact the same person multiple times in a short period of time; neurotic individuals checked their phones well into the night; and friendly, compassionate females made more calls than anyone else. This study shows that our phone habits can reveal a lot about our personalities. Researchers say we should analyze our phone activity to better understand ourselves.
