About
Thirty years of experience has taught me that every client's situation or problem is unique, but there is always hope for a solution or better outcome once the client and I, in collaboration, find their inner strength and resilience to tap into.
Sarajo "Bunny" Falk Psy.D. is a Licensed Psychologist, with 30 years of experience. She has worked with adults and older adults as well as providing supervision for psychology students and interns. Pain management, depression, anxiety, and grief and loss that often accompanies pain have been a special focus of her work. Dr. Falk believes that a collaborative relationship with the client is the most productive way to set goals and realize successful outcomes.
Dr. Falk earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University. Her career in the helping professions began as a Registered Nurse. Although not actively practicing as an RN, She remains licensed and stays current. Dr. Falk's conceptual approach is from a cognitive-behavioral basis. Collaboration with the client is very important to ensure that she and the client are in agreement when it comes to treatment strategies and goals.
We have all been through a great deal of stress and tremendous challenges over the last couple of years. Regaining our equilibrium has been hard. Dr. Falk believes that she can support you and help you find that inner strength and resilience needed to cope with stress and struggles. It is not easy to ask for help: You are to be admired. Amanda: My go-to approach for helping people in cognitive behavioral therapy is helping clients understand themselves in order to gain self-awareness. I find the most benefit in doing this, as it assists people in making sense of how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected.
Iriny: I use cognitive behavioral therapy to help people be more aware of their thoughts and beliefs affect their actions and feelings. I find it is very beneficial in increasing self awareness and changing unhealthy patterns.
Amanda: I teach the following tools in cognitive behavioral therapy:
Iriny: A few of the tools we can use in cognitive behavioral therapy include relaxed breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, playing the script until the end, and journaling. Each tool has its own benefits and can be used by itself or in conjunction with another technique.
Amanda: I know a client is making meaningful progress when they are able to notice when a negative thought comes up and are able to take another perspective on their own, or when someone is able to see their growth through the practice of different CBT strategies.
Iriny: I know a client is making progress using cognitive behavioral therapy when the problem a client initially came for is affecting them at a much lesser level. The client will feel they have adequate resources to cope and respond differently to stressors.
Amanda: Clients can supplement their time in cognitive behavioral therapy through the use of journaling, CBT strategies practiced outside of sessions, self-monitoring their symptoms, and engaging in a fun activity or hobby to help promote a sense of well-being.
Iriny: I always encourage clients to pay attention to their eating, sleeping, exercising, and social habits. Making even small changes can have a meaningful impact.
Amanda: To prepare for their first CBT therapy sessions, an individual can consider their goals for engaging in therapy, what they hope will change by participating in therapy, and the patterns and history of their concerns or symptoms.
Iriny: Clients can prepare for cognitive behavioral therapy by developing and sharing goals with the therapist after discussing what the therapy process and structure look like.
At Thriveworks, Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a widely recognized and evidence-based form of psychotherapy or talk therapy. It focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns, emotions, and behaviors that can contribute to various mental health issues or challenges that people are struggling with.
Cognitive behavioral therapists specialize in Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and can help you to identify and comprehend your thought patterns, which often encompass automatic negative thoughts, cognitive distortions, and self-defeating beliefs. Once these negative thought patterns are pinpointed, cognitive behavioral therapists aim to challenge and replace them with the objective of fostering more constructive and logical thinking. In addition, these therapists place significant emphasis on implementing positive behavioral changes based on the newly established, healthier thought patterns.
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is particularly effective for addressing conditions like anxiety disorders, depression, phobias, and obsessive-compulsive disorders. It focuses on identifying and modifying negative thought patterns and behaviors, making it well-suited for issues related to distorted thinking and emotional regulation.
At Thriveworks, we accept most major insurance plans, allowing many clients to pay as little as $0–$50 per session with their co-pay. We also offer self-pay options for those out-of-network or without insurance. Self-pay rates for talk therapy range from $160 to $240 for intake sessions and $135 to $195 for follow-ups, depending on your state. For psychiatry services, self-pay intake sessions are $255–$375, with follow-ups ranging from $175–$300, also varying by state. More information on current self-pay costs is available on our pricing page.
The success rate of CBT varies depending on the intentions of the client and their condition(s).
The selection between cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is based on an individual’s unique needs and challenges. CBT is commonly chosen for addressing conditions such as anxiety and depression, whereas DBT is especially beneficial for individuals dealing with borderline personality disorder, emotional regulation issues, and difficulties in interpersonal relationships.

Success in cognitive behavioral therapy relies on an equal relationship between client and therapist. The client first delves into what kind of problems they are experiencing as well as what their goals for cognitive behavioral therapy are. These are discussed again and again during each session, as the client and therapist work together to tackle the issues at hand and develop healthier thinking patterns that will help the individual solve or improve said issues.
Often, the client will put in a little bit of work outside of cognitive behavioral therapy in the form of homework. This homework might be to journal between sessions; the client and his or her therapist will then review their journal entries to gauge progress and apply what is learned in therapy to real life.
If your negative thinking is causing you distress or hurting any area of your life, consider working with a cognitive behavioral therapist. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help you to correct these negative thoughts and ultimately improve your career, your personal relationships, and your overall life.
