About
Thirty years of experience has taught me that every client's situation or problem is unique, but there is always hope for a solution or better outcome once the client and I, in collaboration, find their inner strength and resilience to tap into.
Sarajo "Bunny" Falk Psy.D. is a Licensed Psychologist, with 30 years of experience. She has worked with adults and older adults as well as providing supervision for psychology students and interns. Pain management, depression, anxiety, and grief and loss that often accompanies pain have been a special focus of her work. Dr. Falk believes that a collaborative relationship with the client is the most productive way to set goals and realize successful outcomes.
Dr. Falk earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University. Her career in the helping professions began as a Registered Nurse. Although not actively practicing as an RN, She remains licensed and stays current. The stresses and challenges of being a working mother of three children, and maintaining a work-life balance have not been forgotten. Dr. Falk's conceptual approach is from a cognitive-behavioral basis. Collaboration with the client is very important to ensure that she and the client are in agreement when it comes to treatment strategies and goals.
We have all been through a great deal of stress and tremendous challenges over the last couple of years. Regaining our equilibrium has been hard. Dr. Falk believes that she can support you and help you find that inner strength and resilience needed to cope with stress and struggles. It is not easy to ask for help: You are to be admired. If you are ready to do the work, call for an appointment.

My go-to approach is meeting the client where they are because going through grief and loss is such a personal process.
I teach the stages of grief, normalized reactions to grief and loss, stress management, coping, and acceptance.
I know a client is making meaningful progress in grief and loss counseling when they are able to process their feelings and implement healthy coping mechanisms to manage their feelings around the loss.
Clients can use self-care, positive reflection, spiritual/religious connection, and education about loss and grief.
Clients should take some time to look at the loss, try to determine where they are in the process of grief, and determine what they would like to achieve during grief counseling.
Grief and loss counseling helps people grieve difficult losses including the death of a loved one, the loss of a job, or the end of a relationship. It helps people navigate their grief process and eventually accept, understand, and move forward from their loss. Thriveworks grief therapists in Boca Raton, FL have specific experience, training, and skills that enable them to best support grieving individuals.
Grief and loss counseling isn’t one-size-fits-all, but it involves sharing about your loss and then working with your counselor to acknowledge and accept your new reality in its wake. Your provider at Thriveworks in Boca Raton, FL will design your treatment plan around your unique needs and goals for therapy, applying the counseling techniques that best support them.
If you have recently experienced an event like the death of a loved one, a breakup or divorce, the loss of a job, or another major life change, then you may want to seek grief and loss counseling. Grief can be caused by many experiences and events, so if you feel that you are having trouble moving on from a certain event or find that it is still impacting your life and functioning, grief and loss counseling can help you process it more effectively so that you can move on and once again find fulfillment and satisfaction in your life.
There are many counseling theories for treating grief, one of the most frequently used being the dual process model of grief which helps people acknowledge who or what they’ve lost through rumination while also adjusting to the new roles and identities that this loss has now placed on them. There are also many commonly used therapy approaches used in grief and loss counseling, including Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and traumatic grief therapy.
Grief & loss counseling at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
For many, grief and loss counseling lasts for about 6 months. For others, it may last shorter or longer, depending on the severity of their loss and their grief.
Have you ever lost a family member or friend? Have you ever been let go from a job that you loved and called home? Have you ever been forced to say goodbye to a much-loved pet? These are devastating losses. In each of these situations, you have to let go of an important part of your life. You’re also forced to endure difficult emotions like sadness, fear, confusion, even anger. It can feel like there’s nowhere to turn and as if happiness is far out of reach. Fortunately, though, you can find your way to happiness again and a professional can help you do so.
You don’t have to confront these emotions or work through the sadness, fear, confusion, and anger alone. Grief counselors specialize in helping people to grieve their losses. These counselors help their clients to understand and feel the emotions that come, cope with new changes, honor the loved one or thing lost, and ultimately work their way back to happiness.
“The reality is that you will grieve forever. You will not ‘get over’ the loss of a loved one; you will learn to live with it. You will heal and you will rebuild yourself around the loss you have suffered. You will be whole again, but you will never be the same. Nor should you be the same, nor would you want to.” –Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
