Many therapists working with families teach communication and conflict-resolution skills. They may also teach tools for building family connectedness.

What can clients do in their personal time to supplement online therapy?

Ashley Taylor
Ashley Taylor

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor - Supervisor (LPCC-S)

Clients can get the most out of their therapy experience by engaging with recommendations discussed during session, which can range from researching topics we talk about, listening to/reading books or articles about things we discuss, practicing recommended coping skills, and of course doing your best to engage in healthy sleeping and eating habits.

What is your go-to approach for child therapy?

Matthew S Harmon
Matthew S Harmon

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor of Mental Health (LPCC)

A usual go-to approach for helping kids in child therapy is to first work on building trust and rapport with the child. Many child therapists prefer play therapy because it allows space for a child to process thoughts and emotions through play, learn skills in a more engaging approach, and continue building rapport with the therapist.

What should someone do to prepare for starting anxiety therapy?

Matthew S Harmon
Matthew S Harmon

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor of Mental Health (LPCC)

To prepare for your first anxiety therapy session, you can prepare a list of specific examples of when anxiety has been a problem and how you responded.

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor of Mental Health (LPCC)

I know a client is making meaningful progress in depression counseling when they consistently report improvement in their mood for 3-4 weeks.

What Is the Difference Between Therapy, Counseling, and Psychiatry?

Therapy, provided by our counselors and therapists, addresses emotional and behavioral challenges using therapeutic techniques for mental well-being. Counseling, offered by counselors or therapists, focuses on specific issues and life adjustments, while psychiatry, led by our psychiatric nurse practitioners, involves diagnosing and treating mental health conditions with medication.

What Are the Types of Therapists You Can See?

While availability may vary, at Thriveworks Counseling & Psychiatry Columbus, we offer:

  • Licensed Independent Social Workers (LISWs): Specialized in social work and counseling for individuals, families, and groups.
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs): Focused on relationship and family-related issues.
  • Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCCs): Trained to offer counseling services for various emotional and mental health issues.

How Much Does Therapy Cost?

At Thriveworks, we accept most major insurance plans, allowing many clients to pay as little as $0–$50 per session with their co-pay. We also offer self-pay options for those out-of-network or without insurance. Self-pay rates for talk therapy range from $160 to $240 for intake sessions and $135 to $195 for follow-ups, depending on your state. For psychiatry services, self-pay intake sessions are $255–$375, with follow-ups ranging from $175–$300, also varying by state. More information on current self-pay costs is available on our pricing page.

Why Choose Online Psychiatry?

With Thriveworks Counseling & Child Therapy Columbus, our psychiatric services are completely virtual; you can get personalized mental health care from the location of your choice. As long as you have reliable internet and sufficient privacy, you’re set to talk from anywhere. Online psychiatry is a great resource for clients who want to:

  • Eliminate the need to commute to a brick-and-mortar location: If you have reliable internet and a private space to talk with your psychiatrist, you’re set. Attend your session from home, the office—wherever.
  • Reduce the anxiety they might feel about seeking mental health services: it can be easier to discuss concepts or situations related to your mental health needs.
  • Prioritize their mental health: Take care of your emotional well-being, even if you have a busy work or travel schedule. Parents or those taking care of elderly relatives can have the opportunity to take care of themselves, too.

You can rest easy knowing that your conversations will be kept confidential—our online sessions adhere to the same strict HIPAA privacy regulations as our in-person sessions do.

What Is Life Coaching?

Life coaching is a very common field of counseling. But there is little regulation in this field and you will want to be careful in who you choose to partner with you in this pursuit. Thriveworks Counseling & Child Therapy Columbus life coaches are experienced, educated professionals, ready to help you answer these questions.

Most of us do not realize the dreams we have when we are kids happen for a number of reasons. Of course, our desires and goals can change, and maybe we develop different priorities. However, little pieces of our childhood dreams can still be with us as adults. Sometimes, our hectic daily lives disrupt the vision we have for our future. Life coaching can help you sift through the noise and remember your goals.

They may need to adjust from what you thought your life would be when you were a child. Thriveworks Columbus life coaches can help you set realistic goals, understand the blocks that are preventing you from achieving those goals, and develop a plan for real accomplishment and achievement.

Should I Schedule Mental Health Services at Thriveworks Counseling & Child Therapy Columbus?

There are many advantages to pursuing counseling, therapy, and/or psychiatry. Some of these include developing a better understanding of self, better understanding your strengths and weaknesses, and being prepared for future emotional turmoil.

While we cannot guarantee all of these benefits, some of these benefits are almost certain. Unlike many counseling offices, we value your time and understand your busy schedule. For that reason, Thriveworks Counseling & Child Therapy Columbus does not operate with a waiting list. When you call us, we can connect you with a therapist, counselor, or coach within a week. We also offer online counseling services in addition to in-person therapy.

We are ready and waiting to walk with you on this journey. Pick up the phone and take the first step in creating the life of your dreams. Our counselors, therapists, and psychiatric providers look forward to the chance to meet with you.
