Megan has over 8 years of experience helping children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples for treatment of mental illnesses in inpatient and outpatient settings.

My go-to approach for helping people in couples/marriage counseling is to work on building communication skills. I find the best benefit in this approach because it gives couples the tools to resolve future issues/concerns.
I teach the following tools in couples/marriage counseling: communication skills, building/reestablishing trust, emotional regulation, and healthy coping skills.
I know a client is making meaningful progress in couples/marriage counseling when the couple is able to resolve disagreements without arguments.
Clients can supplement their time in couples/marriage counseling with bibliotherapy, individual therapy, and increasing healthy coping skills.
To prepare for your first couples/marriage counseling session, you can write down goals for therapy and bring them to the first session.
