About
As one who has experienced personal loss, I have a genuine understanding of how life transitions can impact daily functioning and how addressing these transitions with loving kindness can transform us once again.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 16 years of experience supporting individuals navigating depression, anxiety, and other life stressors. I believe people heal best when they feel safe, seen, and supported. My approach focuses on helping clients rediscover their inner strength, develop healthy coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change through a compassionate and empowering therapeutic relationship.
I earned a Master’s in Social Work from Saint Louis University, and I am licensed to practice in Texas, Missouri, and Illinois. I use a strengths-based approach and motivational interviewing to help clients identify their stage of change and build lifelong coping skills, especially when supporting perinatal clients on their postpartum journey.
I aim to provide a warm, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their emotions, gain insight, and grow in self-understanding. My goal is to guide individuals toward transformation and renewed perspective so they can move forward with clarity, confidence, and emotional balance.

In each of us there exists an instinctual desire to be whole, a pressing urge to make right that which sits uncomfortably in the psyche. It is here, on this footing, that I have the privilege to meet with you, with warmth, respect, and confidentiality.
Bianca Milliern is a Licensed Professional Counselor with 12 years of experience helping individuals and families struggling with family conflict, divorce, coping skills, mental stress, behavioral issues, life transitions, depression, and anxiety. She pursued her passion for psychology and the study of the human condition after emigrating to the US from South Africa. Bianca’s ideal client wants to begin a healing journey and values a collaborative and mutually respectful therapeutic alliance. While many who enter the therapy room are suffering, there are many good reasons to embark on a wellness journey at any age and stage of life.
Bianca has a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Palm Beach Atlantic University. She practices dynamic psychotherapy and meets clients where they are at the time of each session. Bianca blends here-and-now solutions with a carefully guided understanding of the original experiences, memories, and events that gave birth to maladaptive defenses.
If the therapist and client are two travelers on a boat, the therapist has the map and the light, and the client steers. They can only be successful by working together! If you are ready to get started on your journey, Bianca encourages you to reach out to her today.

Grief and loss counseling helps people grieve difficult losses including the death of a loved one, the loss of a job, or the end of a relationship. It helps people navigate their grief process and eventually accept, understand, and move forward from their loss. Thriveworks grief therapists in Little Elm, TX have specific experience, training, and skills that enable them to best support grieving individuals.
Grief and loss counseling isn’t one-size-fits-all, but it involves sharing about your loss and then working with your counselor to acknowledge and accept your new reality in its wake. Your provider at Thriveworks in Little Elm, TX will design your treatment plan around your unique needs and goals for therapy, applying the counseling techniques that best support them.
If you have recently experienced an event like the death of a loved one, a breakup or divorce, the loss of a job, or another major life change, then you may want to seek grief and loss counseling. Grief can be caused by many experiences and events, so if you feel that you are having trouble moving on from a certain event or find that it is still impacting your life and functioning, grief and loss counseling can help you process it more effectively so that you can move on and once again find fulfillment and satisfaction in your life.
There are many counseling theories for treating grief, one of the most frequently used being the dual process model of grief which helps people acknowledge who or what they’ve lost through rumination while also adjusting to the new roles and identities that this loss has now placed on them. There are also many commonly used therapy approaches used in grief and loss counseling, including Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and traumatic grief therapy.
Grief & loss counseling at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
For many, grief and loss counseling lasts for about 6 months. For others, it may last shorter or longer, depending on the severity of their loss and their grief.
