About
As someone with lived experience relating to trauma, I understand the need to be validated, understood and experience compassion from others.
Deidra Fuller is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas who has over 15 years of experience partnering with adults in their journey toward freeing themselves from addiction, trauma, depression, anxiety, difficult life transitions, and relationship challenges.
She earned her Bachelor's degree in Interpretation-ASL/English from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and received her Master's degree in Special Education-Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Texas—Austin. She is a fluent user of American Sign Language and had a successful 30+ year career as a Nationally Licensed Sign Language Interpreter (NLSI).
Deidra believes that all clients have the answers they seek within themselves and only need a “tour guide” to find the path to those answers. She uses cognitive behavioral techniques (CBT) and motivational interviewing while focusing on strengths, mindfulness, spirituality, the development of coping skills, and solutions-focused approaches.
Deidra seeks to be your “tour guide” to self-discovery, reducing your depression/anxiety, learning coping skills to stop addictive patterns and behaviors, understanding your trauma and how it has impacted your life, and how to not let the past control your life.

Look inward honestly. Accept direct and honest feedback because by looking at ourselves with an honest eye, we can then have full awareness and acceptance of who we are and learn and work toward WHO we can become.
I teach the following: self-reflection, tracking backward for triggers, interrupting negative thoughts, self-care, finding positives to replace negative thoughts, grounding, and relaxation.
I know a client has made meaningful progress when they tell me a time they had a negative thought or emotion and were able to use the tools we have discussed to regulate their emotions, look at all sides of the issue, and find a resolution.
Clients can supplement their time in online therapy by taking some time after our sessions to reflect on what was discussed, jot down notes or reminders of assignments, and also practice the skills discussed — whether or not they work effectively each time, just keep practicing! The most important thing I want clients to do is “be gentle with themselves.”
Be sure you have an adequate internet connection; the use of cell phones is okay but not always adequate — nothing worse than video or audio freezing during a session. If you are zooming in while in your car, make sure you are NOT driving and be sure you are physically in the state your therapist is licensed in; we can’t provide services across state lines unless we are licensed in that state. If you’re using your phone or laptop, make sure your battery is sufficiently charged.
With Thriveworks, Online therapy is an effective alternative to in-person therapy services in which a client can speak to a Thriveworks therapist remotely via online video conferencing. Online sessions are just as effective as in-person treatment, but they can also provide added benefits like reduced travel time, saving money on transportation or childcare, and increased access to care.
Online therapy works much like traditional in-person therapy but takes place through secure video conferencing. Clients can attend Online therapy from any safe place they choose that has access to the internet, whether that be their home or another easily accessible place. Like in-person treatment, a therapist will work with their client to address their concerns, create goals, and establish an effective treatment plan.
There is no best option for online therapy—instead, it’s best to focus on finding a provider that meets your specific needs and with whom you can form a professional connection with.
Yes, online therapy is just as effetive for many clients as in-person sessions.
Online therapy can last for a few months to years depending on the goals and symptoms of the client. The treatment process will be unique to each client and lend itself to their specific concerns, which means that the time it takes to treat them will always be different. Timing is also up to the client themselves; they are free to stop therapy whenever they please, especially if they feel they have reached their goals and addressed their concerns.
At Thriveworks, we accept most major insurance plans, allowing many clients to pay as little as $0–$50 per session with their co-pay. We also offer self-pay options for those out-of-network or without insurance. Self-pay rates for talk therapy range from $160 to $240 for intake sessions and $135 to $195 for follow-ups, depending on your state. For psychiatry services, self-pay intake sessions are $255–$375, with follow-ups ranging from $175–$300, also varying by state. More information on current self-pay costs is available on our pricing page.
