It is important for people to feel comfortable with online therapy. Because it isn't face-to-face, very often, people are concerned about having their pets present, etc. Having the sense of comfort being in your home helps people to feel more comfortable with therapy.
In online therapy, I provide the same therapy techniques and tools online as I do in person. The environment does not change anything.
Progress online and in-person therapy is seen the same way. When people begin searching for something they think they need to work on, it is an indicator that they are progressing.
Clients can practice techniques in their day-to-day living and bring back information on how it has or hasn't helped.
The only difference between preparing for online or in-person therapy is making sure clients are able to use Zoom, perhaps trying out the camera and microphone if they haven't already.
With Thriveworks, Online therapy is an effective alternative to in-person therapy services in which a client can speak to a Thriveworks therapist remotely via online video conferencing. Online sessions are just as effective as in-person treatment, but they can also provide added benefits like reduced travel time, saving money on transportation or childcare, and increased access to care.
Online therapy works much like traditional in-person therapy but takes place through secure video conferencing. Clients can attend Online therapy from any safe place they choose that has access to the internet, whether that be their home or another easily accessible place. Like in-person treatment, a therapist will work with their client to address their concerns, create goals, and establish an effective treatment plan.
There is no best option for online therapy—instead, it’s best to focus on finding a provider that meets your specific needs and with whom you can form a professional connection with.
Yes, online therapy is just as effetive for many clients as in-person sessions.
Online therapy can last for a few months to years depending on the goals and symptoms of the client. The treatment process will be unique to each client and lend itself to their specific concerns, which means that the time it takes to treat them will always be different. Timing is also up to the client themselves; they are free to stop therapy whenever they please, especially if they feel they have reached their goals and addressed their concerns.
At Thriveworks, we accept most major insurance plans, allowing many clients to pay as little as $0–$50 per session with their co-pay. We also offer self-pay options for those out-of-network or without insurance. Self-pay rates for talk therapy range from $160 to $240 for intake sessions and $135 to $195 for follow-ups, depending on your state. For psychiatry services, self-pay intake sessions are $255–$375, with follow-ups ranging from $175–$300, also varying by state. More information on current self-pay costs is available on our pricing page.
Thriveworks has seen an important need for convenient and flexible mental health counseling options. We’ve found that there are many individuals who just can’t fit another drive to another office into their already-busy schedule. Now, that’s not to say that these individuals do not understand the importance of counseling. In fact, the majority see the benefits of counseling and are interested in exploring these benefits for themselves—if only there was a convenient option.
Fortunately, in this day and age, there is a more convenient option in the world of counseling: online counseling. Online counseling began as mental health help that was provided via telephone hotlines and online forums. But today it signifies one-on-one mental health counseling with a qualified, licensed professional. Thriveworks Counseling in New Haven, CT is happy to offer our clients online counseling opportunities, including telephone counseling and video counseling. Both options involve working with a counselor or therapist at an agreed-upon day and time, just as with onsite counseling. The primary difference between the two is that in online counseling, you’ll be meeting with your counselor virtually!
If you’d like to sign up for online counseling—a comfortable and convenient form of counseling—we ask that you consider reaching out to Thriveworks Counseling in New Haven, CT. We have counselors, therapists, and psychologists that are qualified to help their clients via telephone or video sessions. They can help you work through a variety of problems, from battles with a mental illness to the grief that comes with the passing of a loved one and more. Our counselors are here to help and guide you. To schedule an appointment, just call our office.
Don’t worry—online counseling at Thriveworks Counseling does not require you to have a high level of technical skills. You simply need access to a telephone, computer, or another device that connects to the internet. As we mentioned earlier, there are two main online counseling services offered here at Thriveworks in New Haven, CT:
Both telephone counseling and video counseling are great options if you are interested in giving online counseling a try. Now, if you value the face-to-face interaction you would get in in-person counseling, video counseling might be your best bet! If that isn’t important or preferred, telephone counseling is also an option to consider. Either way, our counselors are here and ready to assist.
Online counseling is a solution to many problems that people run into when considering or looking for mental health services. For example, as we mentioned earlier, many people simply can’t or don’t want to drive to yet another office for another appointment. Online counseling removes the commute from the equation. Additionally, some people feel nervous about meeting with a counselor and opening up about the issues in their life. Online counseling often empowers these individuals to feel more comfortable and talk through tough topics.
The online counselors and therapists at Thriveworks Counseling in New Haven are equipped to help their clients—of whom come from different backgrounds and present different problems—with a range of challenges and areas of life. If you think that you could benefit, don’t hesitate to reach out and set up your online counseling appointment.
