My go-to approach for helping people in cognitive behavioral therapy is challenging internal thought processes as well as discussing the connections between thoughts, actions, and emotions. I enjoy practicing putting thoughts on trial, as it helps people find or disprove a thought with evidence rather than basing things on their feelings.
I teach the following tools in cognitive behavioral therapy: putting thoughts on trial, which creates a list that proves the thought true or proves the thought false. I also teach the CBT triangle to help people better understand how to challenge their thoughts, actions, and feelings.
