What is your go-to approach for individual therapy?

Jillian Kraydich
Jillian Kraydich

Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)

My go-to approach for helping people in individual therapy is creating a non-judgmental, healing environment where clients feel safe to open up and share their stories. I find the best benefit in forming an alliance with each individual client and then working together on a path of healing. Creating a unique and diverse treatment plan for each individual allows me to meet my clients where they are. We then work together to reach their treatment goals.

I teach the following tools:
  • Mindfulness and meditation – Learn to notice anxiety without reacting to it
  • Breathing exercises – Reduce the physical symptoms of anxiety
  • Notice thoughts – Identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with more productive and helpful thoughts
  • Journaling – Writing worries down to stop the unproductive loop of overthinking and allowing you to generate potential solutions and insights

How do you know when a client is making meaningful progress in dialectical behavior therapy?

Colette Spaulding
Colette Spaulding

Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)

I know clients are making meaningful progress when they are participating in individual therapy and skills groups, completing skills practice exercises, and most importantly, reporting (both via subjective report and diary card data) that their emotional and cognitive suffering is reduced while their peace and clarity of mind, quality of relationships, and overall functioning are increased.
