I prefer to use CBT strategies for reframing narratives of self and the world that have been distorted due to PTSD and trauma. I utilize a strengths-based approach and compassion-centric therapy.
I teach CBT strategies, coping strategies, mindfulness, and grounding skills.
I know a client is making meaningful progress in trauma therapy when they begin to utilize grounding and mindfulness skills daily to cope with triggers and trauma symptoms.
Clients can supplement therapy by using grounding and mindfulness-based skills, such as the 54321 technique or guided meditation.
To prepare for their first session, clients can care for themselves and learn to trust the process.
Trauma therapy is a therapeutic approach that focuses on treating the psychological impact of traumatic events on individuals. Trauma therapy helps people process and heal from their trauma by guiding them through their trauma in a compassionate and supportive way, allowing clients to feel the full scope of what happened to them and eventually move on from the event(s). This process helps people who have experienced trauma find ways to feel safe in their lives.
Trauma therapy will often require individuals to walk through their experiences in a controlled and compassionate setting (unless the client has a dissociative disorder) so that they can fully process the event, an activity that will allow them to move on from what happened and feel safe again. Thriveworks Worcester therapists will also help clients learn healthy coping mechanisms to deal with their symptoms outside of therapy.
Thriveworks trauma counseling in Worcester, MA is conducted both in person and online through online therapy. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
If an individual is working through a single event that occurred during adulthood, they may only need a few months of treatment. Trauma therapy usually ends when the client believes they have met their therapeutic goals, however long that takes to occur. Thriveworks therapists in Worcester, MA will continue to provide care for as long as necessary to help clients meet their therapeutic needs.

The symptoms of trauma depend on the type of experience you had and if it forms into PTSD or not. Generally, our brains are very susceptible to damage caused by trauma. It’s frustrating to be in a constant battle with your brain, wanting to move on but not being able to. With the professional help of a trained trauma therapist, you can take back control of your life.
Some symptoms you may experience from trauma or the development of PTSD may include:
Once you decide to take the next step and get the assistance of a psychologist, you can start to learn ways to cope with your feelings and move forward. A unique plan of action will be created specifically for you that is centered around your challenges and goals. Our counselors have the techniques and tools needed to stimulate growth and healing.
