Rebecca Morgan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 6 years of experience providing direct therapeutic care. She is passionate about working with young adults and adults in identifying what’s getting in the way of reaching their goals and working together to achieve a more fulfilled life. She specializes in understanding and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community and feels especially passionate about working with trans and non-binary folks. She also specializes in treating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, life transitions, and developing stronger coping skills for all walks of life.
Rebecca completed her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree at Columbia University in 2017. As a queer woman who worked at the historic LGBT Center in NYC, she specializes in understanding issues unique to gender and sexual identities. She is highly trained in dialectical behavioral therapy and is passionate about helping people develop coping skills to improve their emotion regulation, self-esteem, and relationships with others.
We all experience challenges in life, and through therapy, we can move through these challenges alongside someone highly trained to help. The go-to approach for helping people in DBT is learning and using skills to effectively communicate emotions and thoughts. This is beneficial because it teaches people more ways to communicate and understand themselves.
There are several tools that can be taught in DBT such as emotion regulation, mindfulness, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.
When a client is able to practice and use the different skills in real-world scenarios, this is how we know they are making progress in DBT.
Clients can supplement their time in DBT by keeping up with their diary cards and using their skills on a daily basis.

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) targets your personal challenges. You may work with your DBT therapist to maintain diary cards to monitor progress, emphasizing validation and support in the therapeutic relationship. DBT follows a stage-based approach, prioritizing crisis reduction initially and life satisfaction.
DBT was initially developed to address the needs of individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD). However, its versatile approach has enabled its application to a wide range of mental health conditions, including but not limited to, anxiety, depression, stress, and anger issues.
The 4 pillars of DBT are mindfulness, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance.
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) have distinct purposes and aren’t inherently superior or inferior to one another. DBT is most effective for managing emotional regulation, personality disorders, and interpersonal challenges, while EMDR is specifically tailored for individuals with trauma-related conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
